A very large Hungarian pine bench settle dating from around the 1920s.
These types of bench settles are an excellent way to store shoes and wellingtons after a long walk. This example has two compartments separated by a pine divider.
The settle will happily seat 7/8 people so would be a perfect dining table bench for large family occasions.
Condition:
The settle is in sturdy and durable condition throughout. The bench lid to the underside has had some reinforcement with pine batons at some point. There is historic signs of woodworm in places but this has been treated accordingly at some point in its life. T he bench has had an extra coat of antique pine wax to finish.
