About the Artisan: Amilcare Santini
Born in Tuscany near Florence, Amilcare Santini was a legendary Italian sculptor who dedicated his life to classical art. After apprenticing under Florentine master sculptors in the 1920s, Santini became famous for pioneering a specialized artisan process in mid-century Italy.
By combining crushed Carrara marble, Volterra alabaster, and a durable binding resin, he developed a composite material that poured smoothly into intricate molds of his own design. Once set, each piece was meticulously finished by hand to mimic the heavy, smooth texture of hand-carved marble.
Today, the Santini studio name remains globally recognized by collectors for high-quality, museum-grade classical replicas.
