A original 3D still life painting by the British artist Elizabeth M Gould. Titled Fruit Cell and painted acrylic on board (26 x 26 x 2cm) with carved wooden relief the picture is something of a colourful enigma in the style of Peter Blake.
The lemon, pear and orange are literally separated by the sharp 3D diagonals of dismembered picture frames, almost like a Joseph Cornell picture painted in Ladybird book colours.
Believed to be a contemporary and companion of Marian Fowler, unfortunately little else is known about the artist and the painting is believed to be mid to late 20th Century in origin (initialled bottom right).
