19th Century Folk Art Eastern European Marriage Coffer

A 19th century eastern / central European folk art marriage coffer. Possibly Hungarian in origin but cannot be 100% certain.

This European example has handles to each side and is made from pine. The detailed pattern throughout is hand painted to finish.

This marriage coffer would look great at the foot of the bed or as blanket storage in a country cottage.

Condition:

The coffer is in durable condition with obvious signs of age in places. There are some areas to the pine top that are slightly split but are still in place with original nails. This does not affect the durability or aesthetic in any way.
